The University of Transport and Communications (UTC), originally named as College of Public Works, was reopened under the revolutionary government on November 15th, 1945. The UTC was officially established pursuant to the Decision No.42/CP of the Government Council (now it is called the Government) on March 24th, 1962.

The training scale of the university is presently over 22,000 students at all training levels, of which there are over 2,000 master students and 200 PhDs. The total staff of the university is about 1,200, nearly 900 of whom are academic staff. The university has two campuses including the main campus in Hanoi and Campus in Ho Chi Minh City founded in 1990. The university with the area of over 21 ha has a modern laboratory system with two key laboratories at the state level in the transport field, a modern library system with various document resources and modern dormitory for students.

The mission of the university is to educate, conduct scientific research, and transfer high-quality technology in accordance with the trend of integration and social responsibility in order to promote the sustainable development of the transport sector and the country.

At present, the University of Transport and Communications has ten faculties:

  • Faculty of Civil Engineering
  • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
  • Faculty of Transport - Economics
  • Faculty of Electrical - Electronic Engineering
  • Faculty of Information Technology
  • Faculty of Construction Engineering
  • Faculty of Environment and Transport Safety
  • Faculty of International Education
  • Faculty of Construction Management
  • Faculty of Basic Sciences

The university is now offering 31 discipines at undergraduate level; 13 disciplines with 29 specializations at master level; 8 disciplines with 18 specializations at PhD level.

With the aim of “Cooperation-Development”, the UTC has paid much attention to the international cooperation activities in various fields. The university has maintained and established cooperation activities with international universities and organizations from many countries all over the world. 

In terms of student exchange programs, the UTC has been offering exchange program for credits and exchange program for internship. For detailed information related to courses, application, visa, accommodation and other issues, please contact:
