A. INTRODUCTION

Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is a public university operated under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, established on September 24, 1997.

In 2018, TDTU is the first Vietnamese public university to be rated 4 out of 5 stars by the QS Stars Ratings. Especially, the university is awarded 5 stars for teaching, facilities, and internationalization. Also in 2018, The High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCÉRES - France) recognized that TDTU meets the European educational standard.

In August 2020, TDTU is ranked as the number 1 university in Vietnam and Top 701-800 universities in the world (by ARWU), and in December 2020 TDTU was ranked at 639th of the best university in the world by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP).

TDTU is ranked at 83rd among 922 parrticipating universities in terms of global impact rankings and the world’s most sustainable development respectively in 2021 by UI Greenmetric World University Rankings (UI GreenMetric).

I. Undergraduate programs taught in Vietnamese

The Undergraduate Programs in Vietnamese language including 40 courses are especially useful for international applicants who pursue to study in Vietnam and take Vietnamese as the main language during their course.

II. Undergraduate programs Taught in Vietnamese and English

International applicants can choose one from 17 courses of the Undergraduate Programs taught in Vietnamese language and English language. After students complete the 4-year training program, you will obtain the internationally recognized Bachelor's degree by TDTU.

The Undergraduate Program taught in English comprises 12 courses totally taught in English language. Vietnamese language proficiency is not required.

IV. Admissions Entrance Requirements for the Undergraduate programs (full-time study in Vietnam)

To be eligible to study the undergraduate programs at TDTU, the applicant needs to meet the following requirements at least:

1. Graduated from high school or equivalence
Notes: 
- For international students graduated in other countries or in international schools in Vietnam applying for the major Pharmacy, you need to meet further two requirements:

  • Your last year high school GPA is marked as “Good” or above.
  • The average Chemistry score of the final grade of senior high school or equivalence must be ≥ 7.0 (scale 10.0).

- For international students graduated in Vietnam with the Vietnamese national high school program applying for the major Pharmacy, you need to meet further two requirements:

  • Your last year high school GPA is marked as “Very Good” or above.
  • The average Chemistry score of the final grade of senior high school or equivalence must be ≥ 8.0 (scale 10.0).

- International students who choose the courses including Architecture, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, and Industrial Design are required to participate in the aptitude assessment test before entering the Bachelor’s programs.

2. Health must be in acceptable condition to study in Vietnam

3. Language proficiency requirements
- For Undergraduate programs taught in Vietnamese language: Vietnamese language proficiency certificate B2 CEFR.
- For Undergraduate programs taught in English language: IELTS 5.0 or above. 
- For Undergraduate programs taught in English language and Vietnamese language: Vietnamese language proficiency certificate B2 CEFR.
- For Joint programs with international universities: IELTS 5.5 or above.
  Notes: 

  • If you have no language certificate matching the admission requirements, you must register to study in the preparation language class organised by TDTU from 6 months to 1 year or you must participate in our English language Proficiency Assessment Test
  • If you have no Vietnamese language proficiency certificate matching the admission requirements, you must register to study the preparation Vietnamese language class that lasts from around 6 months to 1 year.
  • English language proficiency certificates equivalent to IELTS 5.0 are TOEFL iBT: 45, Cambridge Exams: PET/FCE 140, Cambridge BEC Pre. 140, BULATS 40, TOEIC (4 skills): Listening and Reading 550, Writing 120, Speaking 120. The applicants from countries where English is your primary language are not required to have an international English language proficiency certificate.​

V. Joint programs with international universities

1.  Introduction of the program

This program focuses on recruiting high school graduates from Vietnam and countries around the world.

If you would like to improve your chances on the international labour market, gain diverse experiences in your study field, learn about different cultures, and acquire an internationally recognized degree, then check out the programs offered.

This is joint programs with international universities with the first phase in Vietnam and the second phase of study and graduating at a foreign university in the training system of TDTU. Students will study phase 1 (2-3 years) at TDTU and transfer to phase 2 (1-2 years) at partner universities which have an advanced education system in the world but with low training costs and many incentives for students of TDTU such as Australia, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Korea (for tentative).

After graduating from a foreign university in phase 2, students will be awarded a degree by the foreign university as a full-time student in a foreign country (non-discrimination of diplomas between students who study full-time or only Phase 2 in a foreign country). Especially, if they enroll in a dual degree program, in addition to the degree of foreign universities, they also receive the internationally recognized Bachelor's degree from TDTU.

Because the diploma of the program is international and global, students can choose to return to Vietnam to find a job with the support of TDTU after graduation or stay abroad to work (time is depended on the visa policy of each country.) With the program's diploma, students can work in any country in the world.

  2. Benefits of Program

  • Receive an international qualification like those studying abroad, however, the expense is only 30% compared with the total cost of studying full course abroad;
  • Obtain two global  degrees from TDTU and overseas Universities simultaneously;

VI. Post-graduate programs 

1. Master's Programs

Duration: 18-24 months

The tuition fee for Master's program:

- Tuition fee for the master courses (Vietnamese program): 

  • $2000/2-year program in Business and Social majors
  • $2200/2-year program in Science and Technology majors

- Tuition fee for the master courses (English program): 

  • $5000/2-year program for all majors.

- Tuition fee for the Vietnamese language course:

  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 4 months) to get A2 level for Master majors taught in English: $800
  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 10 months) to get B2 level for Master majors taught in Vietnamese: $1500

Entry Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major (The list of relevant and closely relevant major here)
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • English is a medium of instruction for the master program: TOEIC 600, TOEFL iBT 50, IELTS 5.5, PET/FCE 160 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).
    • Vietnamese is a medium of instruction for the master program: TOEIC 500, TOEFL iBT 45, IELTS 4.5, PET/FCE 140 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Complete 35 credits of mandatory and elective courses with GPA >= 5.5 (on a scale of 10);
  2. Complete and defend sucessful master's thesis;
  3. Meet the required  English proficiency outcome; 
  4. Philosophy certificate must be qualified;
  5. Participated in the scientific seminar “Scientific citation” at least 1 time.

2. Doctoral Programs

Duration: 36 – 48 months

The tuition fee for doctoral program:

  • $7000/4-year program
  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 8 months) to get B1 level: $1200

Entry Requirement:

  • Master's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major (The list of relevant and closely relevant major here).
  • Bachelor's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major.
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • For foreign applicants apply for the scholarship: TOEFL iBT 60, IELTS 6.0, PET/FCE 169 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date),
    • For Vietnamese applicants and foreign students apply without scholarship: TOEFL iBT 45, IELTS 5.0, PET/FCE 160 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Complete 18 credits of mandatory and elective courses;
  2. Complete a Literature Review;
  3. Complete a PhD dissertation proposal;
  4. Complete a PhD dissertation and defend it successfully in front of a Committee;
  5. Submit a Vietnamese language certificate (B1 level);
  6. Published as the main author:
    • Two (02) ISI papers in the field of Science and Engineering; 
    • One (01) ISI paper/ two (02) Scopus papers in the field of Social – Economic – Finance - Business.

4. Post-Doc

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be less than 45 years old at the time of application;
  • Holding a PhD degree;
  • Published as main author at least 02 ISI journals for Science and Engineering fields; 01 ISI journal or 02 Scopus journals for Social, Economics, Finance, Business fields;
  • English proficiency;
  • Recommended by TDTU advisor.

Scholarship:

  • Receive the income according to the registered publications;
  • Accommodation support;
  • Working office, laboratories;
  • Other supports from advisors.

Duty of postdoc:

1. Register the target ISI publications which are agreed by the Department for Management of Science and Technology Development and approved by the President;

2. Do one of the following services:

  • Teaching: 45 periods (3 credits)/year for undergraduate level or 30 periods (2 credits)/year for graduate level;
  • Seminar: 04 seminars/year.

C. SCHOLARSHIPS

In the 2021-2022 academic years, TDTU offers around 150 scholarships for international students to study the undergraduate programs and 100 scholarships of post-graduate programs. There are full scholarships and partial scholarships offered by reductions from tuition fee and dormitory fee. The scholarship and admission policies are as follows:

  1. Number of the scholarships offer:

  • About 50 scholarships of 100% and 50 scholarships of 50% for 39 Undergraduate Programs taught in Vietnamese language.
  • About 50 scholarships of 100% and 50 scholarships of 50% for 12 Undergraduate Programs taught in English language.

(The English language proficiency certificate must be valid within two year from the test date until 01 October 2021).

  • Notes:

+ International students graduated in other countries applying for the major Pharmacy need to meet further two requirements:

VI. Post-graduate programs 

1. Master's Programs

Duration: 18-24 months

The tuition fee for Master's program:

- Tuition fee for the master courses (Vietnamese program): 

  • $2000/2-year program in Business and Social majors
  • $2200/2-year program in Science and Technology majors

- Tuition fee for the master courses (English program): 

  • $5000/2-year program for all majors.

- Tuition fee for the Vietnamese language course:

  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 4 months) to get A2 level for Master majors taught in English: $800
  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 10 months) to get B2 level for Master majors taught in Vietnamese: $1500

Entry Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major (The list of relevant and closely relevant major here)
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • English is a medium of instruction for the master program: TOEIC 600, TOEFL iBT 50, IELTS 5.5, PET/FCE 160 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).
    • Vietnamese is a medium of instruction for the master program: TOEIC 500, TOEFL iBT 45, IELTS 4.5, PET/FCE 140 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Complete 35 credits of mandatory and elective courses with GPA >= 5.5 (on a scale of 10);
  2. Complete and defend sucessful master's thesis;
  3. Meet the required  English proficiency outcome; 
  4. Philosophy certificate must be qualified;
  5. Participated in the scientific seminar “Scientific citation” at least 1 time.

2. Doctoral Programs

Duration: 36 – 48 months

The tuition fee for doctoral program:

  • $7000/4-year program
  • Vietnamese language tuition fee (in 8 months) to get B1 level: $1200

Entry Requirement:

  • Master's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major (The list of relevant and closely relevant major here).
  • Bachelor's Degree and Transcript in a relevant applied major.
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • For foreign applicants apply for the scholarship: TOEFL iBT 60, IELTS 6.0, PET/FCE 169 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date),
    • For Vietnamese applicants and foreign students apply without scholarship: TOEFL iBT 45, IELTS 5.0, PET/FCE 160 (English certificates must be valid for two years from the test date up to the application date).

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Complete 18 credits of mandatory and elective courses;
  2. Complete a Literature Review;
  3. Complete a PhD dissertation proposal;
  4. Complete a PhD dissertation and defend it successfully in front of a Committee;
  5. Submit a Vietnamese language certificate (B1 level);
  6. Published as the main author:
    • Two (02) ISI papers in the field of Science and Engineering; 
    • One (01) ISI paper/ two (02) Scopus papers in the field of Social – Economic – Finance - Business.

4. Post-Doc

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be less than 45 years old at the time of application;
  • Holding a PhD degree;
  • Published as main author at least 02 ISI journals for Science and Engineering fields; 01 ISI journal or 02 Scopus journals for Social, Economics, Finance, Business fields;
  • English proficiency;
  • Recommended by TDTU advisor.

Scholarship:

  • Receive the income according to the registered publications;
  • Accommodation support;
  • Working office, laboratories;
  • Other supports from advisors.

Duty of postdoc:

1. Register the target ISI publications which are agreed by the Department for Management of Science and Technology Development and approved by the President;

2. Do one of the following services:

  • Teaching: 45 periods (3 credits)/year for undergraduate level or 30 periods (2 credits)/year for graduate level;
  • Seminar: 04 seminars/year.

C. SCHOLARSHIPS

In the 2021-2022 academic years, TDTU offers around 150 scholarships for international students to study the undergraduate programs and 100 scholarships of post-graduate programs. There are full scholarships and partial scholarships offered by reductions from tuition fee and dormitory fee. The scholarship and admission policies are as follows:

  1. Number of the scholarships offer:

  • About 50 scholarships of 100% and 50 scholarships of 50% for 39 Undergraduate Programs taught in Vietnamese language.
  • About 50 scholarships of 100% and 50 scholarships of 50% for 12 Undergraduate Programs taught in English language.
  • 100 scholarships for 18 master's programs and 06 doctoral programs.

Notes:

- The scholarships for Undergraduate Programs taught in Vietnamese covers tuition fee and dormitory fee of a 1-year Preparatory Vietnamese language course and a 4-year Bachelor program. Scholarships for the major Vietnamese study – Vietnamese language are not available.

- The scholarships for Undergraduate Programs taught in English covers tuition fee and dormitory fee of a 4-year Bachelor program.

2. Requirements:

  • Academic performance requirements:

+ Students graduated from high school or equivalence in the period 2020-2021

+ Final year senior high school GPA is 6.5 or above (scale 10.0)

  • Language requirements:

For the Undergraduate programs taught in English language, students must have a further IELTS 5.0 or above. Equivalent certificate of English language proficiency is acceptable including TOEFL iBT: 45, Cambridge Exams: PET/FCE 140, Cambridge BEC Pre. 140, BULATS 40, TOEIC (4 skills): Listening and Reading 550, Writing 120, Speaking 120. (The English language proficiency certificate must be valid within two year from the test date until 01 October 2021).

  • Notes:

+ International students graduated in other countries applying for the major Pharmacy need to meet further two requirements:

  • Last year high school GPA is marked as “Good” or above.
  • The average Chemistry score of the final grade of senior high school or equivalence must be ≥ 7.0 (scale 10.0).

+ International students graduated in Vietnam with the Vietnamese national high school program applying for the major Pharmacy need to meet further two requirements:

(1)   Your last year high school GPA is marked as “Very Good” or above.

(2)  The average Chemistry score of the final grade of senior high school or equivalence must be ≥ 8.0 (scale 10.0).

+ International students choosing the majors including Architecture, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, and Industrial Design are required to participate in the aptitude assessment test before entering the Bachelor’s programs.

- Graduated from the university which is in the Top 1000 of THE/ QS/ URAP/ ARWU ranking;

- Review based on GPA: 

GPA ≥ 3.6 (on a scale of 4.0): 100% scholarship

GPA ≥ 3.2 (on a scale of 4.0):  25% scholarship
