Hanoi University of Mining and Geology
Founded in 1966, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (HUMG) is a public university under the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. Through more than 50 years of development, HUMG moves forward for its prestige and reputation as top university in Vietnam in the fields of Mining, Geology and geo-engineering, Geotechnics, Environment, Petroleum, Geomatics and Surveying and related areas. HUMG promotes core values of quality, creativity, pioneering, integration, high social responsibility and sustainable development; providing high quality human resources to meet the development needs of the country, contributing to the prosperity of Viet Nam as well as the region and the world.
More than 13 000 students are studying at HUMG at bachelor's degree, master's degree and PhD's degree. At present, there are 12 faculties with nearly 900 staff working in the university. Among whom, there are 65 professors and associate professors, and 263 doctor degree holders.
International cooperation is considered as essential importance in HUMG’s development strategy. HUMG has been actively developing its international expertise by establishing the partnership with 150 universities, institutes and research organizations from 32 countries and territories in the world. This cooperation has contributed greatly to the enhancement of education and research quality and the development of the university.
One of strategic missions of the university is to build and develop the partnership with the industry. Our industrial partners such as Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (VINACOMIN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam or PVN), Rosneft Vietnam, Schlumberger, Massan Resources, etc have contributed significantly to the development of the university. Our industry linkage focuses on: Education (Student internships/placements; Curriculum co-delivery (guest lectures)); Research (Joint funded research, Contract research, Mobility of staff, Assistant supervision for students in their research projects, Organizing annual career workshop for students); Valorization (Commercialisation of R&D results (licencing/patenting), Academic entrepreneurship and student entrepreneurship (start-ups)); Management (Shared resources (infrastructure, personnel, equipment) and sponsorship/scholarships supports.)
