1. Our History

Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture is a state university, established under the act of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, training and doing scientific research in the fields of culture, arts, information and tourism.

  • The School of Culture and Information, established on 3rd January 1976 (pursuant to the Decision of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the South), training and developing needed abilities for managers in culture and information sector.
  • On 30th August 1976, it was renamed the School of Theory and Operation pursuant to the Decision No. 110/VH-QD by the Minister of Culture.
  • On 19th September 1981, pursuant to the Decision No. 121/VH-QD by the Minister of Culture, the school was renamed the School of Culture.
  • On 26th April 1995, the school was upgraded to Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture at the Decision No. 1787/VH-QD by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
  • On 23rd June 2005, at the Prime Minister's Decision No. 154/2005/QD-TTg the college was upgraded to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture, providing undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses.

  2. Museum studies (Preservation and Museum, Conservation of museum objects; Cultural heritage management)
  3. Tourism (Tour guiding; Travel management);
  4. Publishing studies (Publications; Publishing company administration)
  5. Cultural management (Socio-cultural activities management; Organizing Arts and cultural activities; Planning cultural, sport and tourism events; Cultural heritage management);
  6. Cultural studies (Vietnamese culture; Communication and Culture, Cultural Industries);
  7. Vietnam minorities culture studies

- Post graduate courses:

  1. Master of Cultural management
  2. Master of Cultural studies
  3. Master of Library and Information science

       Types of training

  • Full time training;
  • In service training;
  • Second bachelor degree;
  • Articulation (from the intermediate and undergraduate level to university level)
  • Short-term training courses (according to the thematic subjects, upgradation courses of professional titles, professional practice certificates or other contents requested by agencies, organizations and local government).

Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture and Ho Chi Minh City Museum, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, together with CRIHAP to organize the Workshop on Community-based Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage, with from August 5 to 9. It was also strongly supported by the UNESCO Office in Hanoi.
