About FERM Program

Since 2013, the Department of Mathematics has conducted a bachelor's degree training in Financial Engineering and Risk Management. The Financial Engineering and Risk Management program is designed to equip students with basic and modern knowledge of Mathematics, Informatics, and Financial Engineering, to help them implement the process of analyzing, forecasting, managing financial issues and related issues, solving real situations in the field of Economics - Finance.

Internship:

Students are allowed to register for summer internship only after they have achieved at least 75% of total credits of general and major courses. Time for registration is normally summer semester of the year before doing thesis. The internship requires a minimum of 8 weeks of full-time working at manufacturing factories or research institutes. Summer internship is beneficial for students as the following:

Form a relationship with people in industry
Gain industrial experiences and knowledge which would be beneficial for doing thesis in the final year
Address the current challenges in industry and know how to overcome these challenges
Understand personal responsibility and teamwork skill.

Thesis

Students want to register for the thesis must meet the following conditions:

Accumulate successfully at least 90% of total credits.
Not under any academic admonishment.

After the successful registration, students have to contact the supervisor and determine thesis topic. Then they will have at least 20 weeks to finish their works, including a thesis proposal, thesis report and thesis defense. This thesis can help students recognize their research interests and accumulate valuable experiences and skills before starting their own career path after graduation.

Graduation requirements

To complete the Bachelor of Applied Mathematics, a student must complete the required number of courses listed in the course list provided in part 3.5 and meet all following requirements:

Adhere to the regulations and training policy of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh
City and International University.
Accumulate sufficient number of credits of the program with a GPA higher than 50/100.
Get English proficiency equal to IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
Finish the Bachelor thesis and defend it in front of his/her thesis advisory committee.
